I Finally Have Eyebrows!
When I was born, my entitlement for eyebrows were kind of left unchecked on the list of must-haves. I grew up with very sparse and light coloured hairs pretending to be eyebrows. I never thought much of it and always assumed everyone looked the same until I grew older and had to be made up for a school concert.
The teacher in charge burst out, “You don’t have eyebrows!”
Jeez…talk about making a little girl feel like a freak!
Fast forward many years later (and still no eyebrows to speak of!), a beautician taught me that in the feng shui of the face, you should always have nice and well-trimmed eyebrows so that your relationships with people will be good and stable. Even with her advice, I still couldn’t really be bothered to learn how to draw them in. I always thought they looked fake and the sharp-point pencils were just too hard to handle. I always ended up with angry-looking caterpillars!
It took a makeup session at Shu Uemura in Hong Kong to change that forever. And now what can I say? Shu, I really love you!

The secret’s in their eyebrow pencils which are specially sharpened so they have a flat edge which makes drawing eyebrows so so easy! Plus it’s part of their service to sharpen your blunt eyebrow pencils for free anywhere in the world!
So after so many years, my eyebrows finally have a happy ending - nice elegant brows anywhere I go!
And as an aside, I blogged about Shu’s fantastic eyelash curler in my old blog and now I’ve learnt a new tip from Geekchic - warm up your curler between your fingers before curling your lashes. It’ll help keep the lashes curled. I’ve tried it with great results!
At last, Pinkelle has pretty peepers!

paint on one ah? have some of mine!
Pinkelle says: Hehe…draw on one la!
no matter how I try, I can never get the perfect brows. I’m just stuck with sparse bits here and there… argh! and my stubby eyelashes… *sigh*
shu uemura, eh? don’t think they carry it here. must go back KL for some major shopping!
Pinkelle says: I had the same problem till I tried Shu, May! Yes, do come back for some major shopping and teh tarik!
Beautiful, perfectly-shaped eyebrows can make an amazing difference to your overall appearance by highlighting your eyes and adding strength and definition to your face. Well-shaped and groomed eyebrows can take years off your appearance enhancing your natural beauty!
In the world of feng shui, having no eyebrows or scanty ‘ghost’ eyebrows leaves you with absolutely no protection, and vulnerable to all the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortunes. Secret arrows aimed at you will hit the mark more easily and you could become the victim of negative actions sent your way by those with wicked intentions.
By the way…knowing the temperature of your fingers, you might wanna use a cloth dampened with some hot water on that eyelash curler instead?!
Pinkelle says: How come you’re so knowledgable in the fengshui of the face?! My fingers are quite warm in the morning la…
I am a fan of Shu’s hard formula eye brown pencil! Until now after using countless pieces, I still have no idea how to sharpen it that well!
Pinkelle welcomes: Ms Fair Face!
Don’t you just love the pencil? I don’t bother learning how to sharpen it…just drop it off at the Shu counter every time the edge gets blunt again!
Hiya! Glad you found the little tip useful. That’s what I use when I’m in the tropics. Travel to milder weather, I blast them for a couple of seconds with the hairdryer. But remember to test them before they are plonked onto the eyes!
Pinkelle says: Welcome, Geekchic and thanks heaps for the tip! I found it so useful! *grin*
I seldom get the perfect brow drawn in no matter how I try! But I like Lancome’s eyebrow pencil with the built-in brush on the other end… it helps to smooth away the pencil lines.
Pinkelle says: I used to have the same problems too until I gave Shu a try! Btw, I dunno what’s a perfect brow!
To me anything that looks fairly decent can pass lah!
Oh been there done that! Finally I got too lazy and had mine Brownaissanced in mocha to match my hair
Gotta go back for touch up now tho after like…30 months?
The freedom was akin to LASIK
Pinkelle says: Really? I am a bit scared for going for eyebrow tattoo. Scared I’ll end up looking scary!
I’m a lazy bum. I rely on eyebrow embroidery to make sure my brows always look okay.
Pinkelle says: That’s the good thing about embroidery, they always look good! I have good and bad brow days
It’s not tattoo PE! It is like tattoo but this is way better than the green type you see on the faces of fish mongers in the market
The pain level is like 3 on a scale of 10. No need to focus on “my eyebrows still there?” when sweating it out during yoga
Pinkelle says: Pain level of 3/10 is too high! :O Hehe…I don’t worry about eyebrows in yoga
Oops yes it is called eyebrow embroidery
I did mine in Midvalley Megamall and the girls were very patient in making sure they got me the arch that I like
Pinkelle salutes: Ann for trying it out! But my threshold of pain is too low!
