Gremlins!

Help! My computer’s been struck by Gremlins!

Nasty, naughty little critters that insist on screwing up my net. They struck twice already this week and both times I was reading Giddy Tiger’s site! I tried to close her site after reading it and suddenly, all these windows started popping up all over my screen, sprouting like mushrooms after rain!

 untitled

And I couldn’t do a single thing about it! Any attempt to close any screen just made more and more pop up! At about 31 screens, it exhausted itself but when I tried to close one, another savagely reared its ugly head to mock me! ARGH….

Luckily it calmed down after a while and I managed to close all the screens. Could it be a virus? It’s a real scary virus then to see screens popping up all over the place like it’s been possessed! Perhaps it’s time I get myself a foxy little lady too!

Edit: It happened again this morning with Giddy Tiger’s site again! GT, do you have some secret Weapon of Mass Destruction hidden up your sleeve?!

Get firefox and disable pop-ups! =)

PE says: Yeah, looking into that but my comp at work will only allow downloads in Admin mode which is a real pain! Grr….

Hmm… never encountered this sort of problem before… but I know that my office PC doesn’t like some blogs/sites, will definitely hang and have to restart if I so much as go near them.

PE says: Ooh I know a lot of offices that are mean that way! Luckily my present one has almost no holds-barred so it’s surf away!

Yikes. When attacked, just pull da plug. :-)

PE says: Yep…except it takes a million years to restart this old dinosaur!

I never had that problem on GT’s site. Have you tried running any online virus scanner or spyware scanner?

PE says: Thanks for the tip, Gallivanter! I’ve tried running a spyware and virus scan but it tells me nothing detected!

No, I don’t have any gremlins installed. But truth be told, I do get this problem when I visit some blogs too… I realized sometimes it is because I close the window before the whole thing loads…

PE says: Didn’t mean to pick on your site, GT but I was really puzzled why it kept happening when I loaded your site! I’ll try to wait for your site to fully load the next time and see if this happens again. Must be my screwed up comp!

must be IE. go for Firefox! LOL! I’m so IE-adverse I’d blame it all the time for being a bad browser, haha!

PE says: I’m succumbing to the little fox soon! As soon as I can download it on my office comp!

I experienced this before on my old Fujistu laptop. Was shocked. Think your comp probably got some virus. Run some checks.

PE says: Thanks for the tip! I’m so reliant on my little technology tools that the slightest screwup makes me panic big time!
