Women Are from Venus
- Sometime last week, there was a big discussion over the radio about whether women expected men to be psychic. For the men…yes, we do!
- One of my favourite series, Desperate Housewives, is so drama queen-like that I end up rolling my eyes most of the time but yet never fail to catch it!
- I was in a discussion about what men and women want and the conclusion was that men are simple and women are complicated!
- Giddy Tigers blogged about whether we’re emotional drama queens.
These and a few dramas in my life got me thinking about whether we women are really from Venus and drama queens to boot. Or whether it’s just me!
Whenever I watch Desperate Housewives, part of me can always relate to at least one housewife, although not on such a dramatic scale. One episode I really recall was when a Susan went up a mountain to look for Mike without any gear or idea of where she was heading. The ranger who was with her and forced to listen to her failed romances told her that she was essentially a drama queen and will always create drama in her life simply because she doesn’t know how to be happy enjoying the simple things.
That sounded a little like me. A small molehill almost always becomes a mountain complete worst-case scenario thoughts. Sometimes I wonder if it’s because of expectations. We have a little scenes in our heads which we expect another to do and when they don’t, it’s drama time! Or we expect a guy to know what we’re thinking simply by our expressions or moods. A woman friend would probably pick up that we’re upset but a guy always remains blissfully ignorant, even when he’s the cause of it! Or sometimes we have endless possibilities running through our heads for every little thing when it may not be as complicated as we think it is! A friend and I used to have this mantra whenever we had relationship woes:
Think like a guy, make it simple!
And sometimes it really did work although we often thought we were glossing over what we thought were big issues! Admittedly though, when we took a step back to gloss over it, the issue didn’t seem as big as we originally thought it was.
So, should we be like Susan who told Mike that she wants no more drama in her life? Nah, drama makes up who we are! 
So, I guess I’ll learn how to appreciate the simple happy things but be a drama queen when the situation calls for it! After all, drama queens get what they want and to places!
So the next time you’re asked why men are simple and women complicated?! It’s because we’re made that way! Otherwise how did the phrase “Opposites Attract” come about?!

That’s why we claim we can never understand one another! But that just makes for an interesting world, doesn’t it? *wink*

No bridge yet..it’s probably in the same situation as the proposed bridge to Singapore!
Ok, so I haven’t had that much of a problem in the Mars/Venus area to-date. *touch wood* But I wanna keep my drama queen crown. Can I, PE?
