Rinnah asked how the people here were like and girl, you took my thoughts right out of my mind! That was the very next thing I was planning to blog about! I didn’t watch Borat but when I stepped off the plane and saw the pretty female officer at the immigration counter, the first thing that struck me was how gorgeous their people were! Since Kazakhstan is perched in between Asia and Europe, this has resulted in a myriad of culture, races and religion in their country, a little like how Malaysia is. And like Malaysia, their people are made up of those from Asian, Russian or mixed descent and if there was one word to describe their people, it was – Beautiful!
The men, especially those of Russian descent are equally good eye-candy!
They’re all very tall and the women are simply gorgeous! Tall, slim and long-legged, they’re incredibly stylish and somehow even make a hotel blazer uniform look stylo! They have some of the most interesting makeup I’ve seen! Just hours earlier, we were at the airline counter to endorse the change in our tickets and the girl attending to us had a really interesting blend of white and black shimmer eyeshadow below her eyes. The women I’ve seen on the streets are always immaculately made-up, have the smoothest skin and believe or not, always in heels! Yep, I’ve yet to see a woman here in slippers or flats. Everyone I’ve seen walks in at least 3-inch high stilettos or platforms! Suddenly, this little Malaysian in her dusty limited wardrobe felt really drab next to them! Heh…talk about checking out the competition!
It’s summer here now and I was wondering why it was so hot until I was told that the temperature was 42 degrees this afternoon! I think this is the hottest I’ve ever experienced. It’s intense and dry heat but their people love it. At night, there are always little groups of people sitting or hanging around outside, simply enjoying the warm summer air before their bitterly cold winter months come by again.Â
I know lots of you have been asking for pictures but I didn’t bring any camera as this was a really intense working trip and didn’t think I’ll have much opportunity to take photos at all…sorry!
Â
On a cheerier note, we managed to close what we came here for so I’m finally going home this afternoon! Yippee!! As nice as the place is, I can’t wait to get on that plane that’ll be the start of the long journey and many transfers home. You know you’ve been away from home too long when all you can think about at a buffet BBQ dinner is a hot, steaming bowl of noodles!

Borat is not a good guide to KZT lah just as well you did not watch it. I bet your request for a simple bowl of noodles will be met soon. Psst: MAS makes Maggi Mee for homesick travellers
PE says: MAS is crap

PE says: Sorry ah Rinnah! No camera la…added responsibility! I was wondering the same too! They must really take the trouble and time to make up every morning!
