Pinkelicious Pops #6

Ooh…I’d totally forgotten about my Pinkelicious Pops until I sat here for a long while, twiddling my thumbs while waiting for the creative juices to flow. So after more than 2 months, Pinkelicious Pops is back with Installment #6! Hmm…let’s see if it’ll be like one of those Korean soaps that run into the hundreds of episodes! :P

I’ve started exercising again after many many moons.

Must always look for the silver lining in the dark clouds eh?

We’ve been for walks around the Lake Gardens and hills behind Taman Tun/Kiara. Thumbs up for the latter! It’s got well made paths and really fresh air unlike the Lake Gardens which tend to be a bit polluted now with all the construction going on there.

PE says - Now, just got to find the inspiration to crawl up at the crack of dawn on a weekend!

I was rushing to print something two evenings ago and my document refused to print. Went to check the printer out and argh! The black toner was finished!

I saw a box of toner lying there so fluffy me decided to give changing the toner a go. Picked it up and thought that it was nicely sealed in the little bag. WRONG! It had been opened, dropped on the floor and spewed a huge cloud of blue! Most of which decided to settle on my feet, shoes and floor. Nice!

So I beat a hasty retreat, washed my feet of the poisonous stuff and cleaned my shoes the best I could. But there goes my work shoe *wails*

PE says - Yes, I was the Smurfette who trekked blue footprints all over the room!

I went off to Singapore yesterday on an exhausting day trip and I realised something quite sad. Where our toilets and tables here are cleaned by foreign immigrant workers, in Singapore, these tasks are done by the aged population there. Most of them were quite old, as old as my grandmother, and there they were still cleaning toilets, emptying rubbish and clearing plates. The airport Taxi Coordinator was old and bent and still working a full day job, simply because the cost of living in Singapore doesn’t allow them to retire, especially if they don’t have things like CPF to fall back on.

I’ve also heard that some of them who are better off are usually put into a nursing home by their children who are probably too busy earning money in this affluent city state to take care of their aged parents. It’s sad to see that this Western concept has starting creeping in here too, for whatever reasons they might have.

PE says - Shouldn’t they be enjoying their golden years with their family instead of working or being in a nursing home? Well, I guess that’s the price of progress.

I was running late yesterday to the airport to catch my early morning flight down. Was supposed to take the train but was even running late for that so Bro offered to send me there. He drove like a banshee, hitting 140 km/hr in his rickety car (!) and got me there just on time to run through the scanners, immigration and make a dash to the boarding lounge.

Got on board and wow! They use a Boeing 777 for this one hour flight down South! :O Although it was a lot more stable and comfortable, the mind boggles at why a huge aircraft is used for such a short trip when that aircraft usually goes on the long-haul European and UK flights!

PE says - No wonder MAS is losing money :P

This brings the end of today’s Pinkelicious Pops. You must be asking what significance the Peanuts comic is? Well, in Singapore, just like Snoopy, the highlight of my day was a scrumptious lunch eaten in the terribly swanky Tower Club in Singapore! :)
