Reality Check

Thanks for all your kind wishes!
*hugs*
The past weekend passed by in a surreal blur from running to the mall to drop off the ring for resizing (2 months!) to hearing the word fiancée for the first time.
But like confetti that comes falling, all that came to a screeching halt and I floated down from Cloud Nine with a painful bump when the parents started talking about tables and sis started asking me what sort of dress I wanted. Suddenly, it felt like things were happening so fast and I couldn’t breathe and the usual planner and organized me was not even able to pull up any semblance of a list, what more a design of a dress!
And to top it off, some nasty remarks by nasty people really spoilt my mood. Like the great boss of Nuffnang said here, some people are just so pessimistic. It was such a marked contrast from the happiness and joy I heard in my friend’s voice when I called her this morning to break the news.
Anyway, I’d really better start cracking on that list soon so any suggestions or templates from anyone would be greatly welcomed!

Wah me? Advice? I’m still going nuts over my prep! :p
Okay, okay, seriously though, you WILL get the odd bad remarks, but I say, to hell with those people who “mm tai tak”. It’s YOUR big day, not theirs.
As for the prep, how long do you have before the wedding? Set the date yet? Venues first. Very important. Kao tim that, and the rest come later. And the rest, I would mean the DRESS :p My wedding’s 53 days away and I haven’t a clue of what I’m wearing yet :p Oh, and set a budget from the start. That’s like #1 important, man :p
As for templates and stuff, hehe, I have a LOT! Which in the end, I also didn’t use. Like I mentioned in my wedding blog, I really like http://www.weddingbee.com. US-based site, but the DIY ideas are fantastic.
Good luck, and throw me Qs on anything anytime :p
Congratulations once again!
PE says: Thank you thank you!
Yes, date will have to come first. But thank goodness for my sis! She’s helping me keep my head in order!
Congratulations to you too! Hope you find that dream dress soon!
awww, the pink heart confetti looks so sweet! 2 months for a ring to be resized? they’d better do a good job of it!
PE says: That was what I thought too and was scared the diamond might actually go missing but like they say, they’re Tiffany & Co so they should be reputable!
Aurelia is so excited that she could not even pronounce “congratulatory lunch” in one go. Pink confetti for PE and big bear hugs for the she who is ringed :)Have a much God blessed engagement and wedding!!
PE says: Thank you
And thanks for that congratulatory lunch! I owe you a lunch
I had to get my engagement ring resized too, but it didn’t take all of 2 months! Yeah, I would say get the date and venue set first, and it helps to have a spreadsheet with all the milestones in place…
PE says: Thanks GT!
And thanks too for those lists! Am still working on that spreadsheet :p This is worse than any financial model I had to do!
Isn’t being engaged fun! Teeheehee.
Yep, get the date first. Then you know how much time you have to plan. Get a venue. Save your leave for picking the dress and the photo shoots. Wear nice knickers when you’re out to pick the dress, save the Hello Kitty ones for another day. Enlist the help of siblings and cousins, they’ll be delighted to be involved. Tell hubby2b to stay out of the way bec from my experience, men are just hopeless at wedding planning. Erm.. what else… Oh yeah, set your budget. And then add 20% on top of that - that’s what you’ll really spend.
Whatever it is, do what you want for your wedding and remember to have FUN. Eg If you want a Hello Kitty theme, do it. It’ll be unique and you’ll have great memories. It’s like we took a wedding pic with our Liverpool scarf bec that’s what we wanted.
Pfft to the wet blankies - I guess it’s just the sour grapes syndrome. Let them be and enjoy YOUR day.
PE says: Thanks for the tips, CheeseyPoo! Especially the knickers bit!
Date has been set and venue more or less confirmed. Let the stress begin…wooh…will need to meet up with you one day to find out where you got your stuff in our lil ol’ town!
I’m so happy for you, my friend.
Even your blog now glows with love.. despite all the preparations you need to do.
Starts humming “Love is in the air”.
I heard somewhere you got hitch…CONGRATULATIONS!
PE says: Which little bird whispered this?
But thanks! Not yet hitched…on my way there…heheh
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
PE says: Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you too!
Merry Christmas to u & ur family Pinkelle!
You’ll always have negative people around you. Just remind yourself that they’re probably just jealous of you so don’t give a damn when there’s so much love around you baby!
Hi Pink Elle, I don’t do bridal makeup, but I know people who do. Do you need any recommendation?
PE says: Hi Cass, thanks for the comment. Can you please recommend some? Thanks
