Reality Check

Thanks for all your kind wishes! :) *hugs*

The past weekend passed by in a surreal blur from running to the mall to drop off the ring for resizing (2 months!) to hearing the word fiancée for the first time.

But like confetti that comes falling, all that came to a screeching halt and I floated down from Cloud Nine with a painful bump when the parents started talking about tables and sis started asking me what sort of dress I wanted. Suddenly, it felt like things were happening so fast and I couldn’t breathe and the usual planner and organized me was not even able to pull up any semblance of a list, what more a design of a dress!

And to top it off, some nasty remarks by nasty people really spoilt my mood. Like the great boss of Nuffnang said here, some people are just so pessimistic. It was such a marked contrast from the happiness and joy I heard in my friend’s voice when I called her this morning to break the news.

Anyway, I’d really better start cracking on that list soon so any suggestions or templates from anyone would be greatly welcomed! :) Tine, CheesyPoo…pretty please?! :)

Pinkelicious Pops #7

Things have been getting so busy in the real world that I almost forgot I had my little pink alter-ego to maintain! Nope, I haven’t been busy FB-ing (though I do sneak in fights every now and then on my fast growing monsters!) but rather, I’ve been really with work and some new happenings so this is just a little short Pinkelicious Pop to bring things up to date!

There was once a story I watched about a woman who was supposed to get on a bus but refused. It turned out that in some parallel universe, that bus was her destiny bus because she wasn’t supposed to exist anymore in the real world. But because she didn’t get on, she slowly ceased to exist here, simply because she didn’t get on the bus.

What’s that mumbo-jumbo?

Well, 6 months ago, I too declined to get on a bus that trundled along with a promise of better things. Instead, I agreed to stay put and nothing materialized out of it except perhaps, a few interesting trips. And suddenly, out of the blue, a big shiny red and yellow bus has just pulled up right in front of me with even better promises!

Did I get on? You bet I did! :)

I was in London last week for some final meetings. It was a good, albeit, cold trip. For a change, we actually stayed in the city, right smack in Kensington so it was wonderful to have easy access to all kinds of food and conveniences. With Sainsburys 200m away and Tesco Extra just opposite the hotel, I got a chance to save a bit on my allowances with fresh bagels from those places instead of the expensive hotel buffet! :) I even had the chance to pop out to visit an old friend in his new flat in Zone 2 where we had a wonderful catch up session over delicious home-cooked food.

This trip was a bit of an eye-opener though. I came back feeling much happier and settled about life…finally. And it’s a wonderful feeling.

Drop the former transport minister,

No, it’s a nicely wrapped meal, sir!

Did you guess that right? Scroll down below for the answer! :)

That was just some of the clues we had to solve in our inaugural Treasure Hunt! ParisB and I headed up to Penang last weekend with 2 friends to take part in a Food Treasure Hunt. It was our first time and boy, did we have fun! The first leg involved driving all over Penang to collect chops from various food outlets. One of which was all the way in Balik Pulau! Then it was off to New World Food Court to solve more clues before we hit the road with our tulips.

One of the hardest challenge was having to run all the way up Kek Lok Si to the Cheong Kim Chuan shop to pick up a pack of nutmeg! I was about to pass out but the friendly shopkeepers all along the stairs who were egging us on kept me going!

Thanks to GT for her help, ParisB for her excellent driving AND clue-spotting skills though she was sick as a dog, J for his great navigational skills and JH for driving us up to Penang and back again!

PE says - Bring on the next Treasure Hunt! :)

I need to get back tonnes of filing and putting all my documents in order. With my unutilised leave this year plus some carried forward from last year, my last day was shockingly a lot faster than I expected.

I’m a bit of a mixed bag of feelings but for now, I’d better tackle that Eiffel Tower high stack of documents in my room I’ve been collecting since goodness knows when! After I’m done, I’ll probably need a Hair Transplant when I’m done pulling out my hair in frustration!

PE says - I HATE FILING!!

Answer to that clue: Dump + Ling = dumpling! ;) Hands up if you got it right!

The Blackberry Age

Isn’t it amazing how in this day and age of Blackberries, blogging on the go and being wired 24-7, some people have just discovered Skype?!

Today, in a momentous event, my dinosaur colleague finally had to give in to technology and download Skype. All simply because another colleague in the UK was getting really tired of having to pay huge international phone bills and threatened to stop picking up his calls! So, he was finally dragged, kicking and screaming, into The Blackberry Age!

Best of all, I had to download it for him, guide him through setting up his account and teach him how to use it and now he’s pleased as punch and is trying to add everyone on so that he can call them on his funky new mic and headphones! *rolls eyes* Maybe I’d better not introduce the concept of PC Security Cameras for his home so he can keep an eye on his daughter or maid! No prizes for guessing what he’ll probably be doing all day! :)
